Herb Alpert and Lani Hall - January 24, 2010 @ 8 pm | $50/$47 To multitudes of music fans, Herb Alpert is the trumpet-playing icon whose name instantly brings to mind memorable songs that he recorded as the leader of the legendary Tijuana Brass yielding five #1 hits, eight Grammy awards, 14 Platinum and 15 Gold albums totaling 72 million albums sold worldwide. Vocalist Lani Hall, Alperts wife, was discovered by Sergio Mendes in 1965 which led to her joining his new group, Brazil 66, as lead vocalist. When asked recently about this current project, Alpert commented: Were playing original arrangements of classic American standards with the colour of Brazilian music scattered throughout, hopefully creating an exciting and unique musical blend without ever closing the space for spontaneity.
