Event Notes

× Roméo Dallaire, the celebrated global human rights advocate, highly respected author and former Canadian senator, will inspire audiences to challenge the status quo when he speaks about his new book, The Peace: A Warrior’s Journey.

Guiding readers from past wars through modern conflict toward a vision of lasting peace, the book shows us the face of war through the prism of the retired Lieutenant-General's own life in the military. General Dallaire served most notably as Commander of the UN’s Mission for Rwanda during the 1994 genocide. In the book, he names all the things that undermine true peace and security. Then he shows a path to what he calls "the peace," a state where, above all else, people value humanity and the planet together—and act accordingly. The Peace is the ‘cri de coeur’ of a warrior who has been to hell and back, and hopes to guide us to a better place.
Vancouver Sun Arts journalist Dana Gee hosts.
