Featuring: Alvin Youngblood Hart, Barney Bentall, Jim Byrnes, Ndidi Onukwulu, Dawn Pemberton, Suzie Ungerleider, Joachim Cooder, Maya de Vitry and John Boutté. Our annual tradition of rounding up Vancouver’s most talented musicians to re-imagine a classic album continues! This edition of the popular two-night event features the Steve Dawson-led ensemble conjuring the peerless Bob Dylan as he was changing folk music forever with his sixth album Highway 61 Revisited.

Recorded around the time of his hugely controversial electric performance at the Newport Folk FestivaI, the album launched a new, cutting-edge "folk-rock" sound complete with compelling lyrics that were light years ahead of anything else on the charts. Hearing the album at John Lennon’s house, Paul McCartney recalls, “it was just beautiful. He showed all of us that it was possible to go a little further.” Since Dawson considers these performances “re-imaginings” rather than “tributes,” expect to hear such timeless songs as “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Desolation Row,” “Tombstone Blues” and the brilliant title track performed in styles entirely up to the artists’ inspiration.
