Jamison Ross emerged on the jazz scene as an incredible young drummer in 2012 after winning Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, a hallmark of the next rising star in traditional jazz. “But then, he went right back to doing what he loves: uniting New Orleans funk and second line with modern gospel, classic doo-wop and soul jazz” [The New York Times], and showcased his unexpected talents as a singer with his debut 2015 self-titled album, Jamison, which earned a Grammy nomination for best jazz vocal album. In advance of his North Shore Jazz appearance, Ross released his Nina Simone-inspired album, All for One, showcasing his skills not only as a jazz, gospel and soul musician who commands the drums, but also as a gifted composer, bandleader and vocalist.
